Calaio stepped forward and just beat goalkeeper Maarten Stekelenburg with a low shot inside the right post from 12 yards. A win could have moved Roma past Inter Milan and into fifth place, but the capital club has now claimed just one victory from its last five contests.

First-time head coach Lane Kiffin will be eager to impress an owner who employs the philosophy, “Just win, baby!” The 32-year-old Kiffin has to command respect from a locker room full of players older than him.
